Are you introducing a new puppy to your family? We share some tips on puppy-proofing your home.

A new puppy in the family is an exciting time, however, it can mean you need to ensure your home is safe for the new arrival.

We’ve put together some top tips for puppy-proofing your home:

Tip # 1

Clean up or elevate any electrical cords and curtain cords – these can be potential hazards that puppies can encounter when crawling around the ground or floor.

Tip #2

Secure pots, furniture and open storage – just like little kids, puppies can knock over anything unsecured, so a quick scan of your storage units and plants will ensure you secure anything that can fall on your pup or be damaged.

Tip # 3

Be aware of plants that could be poisonous! Some potted plants can be poisonous to puppies, ensure all plants are safe, and if they are dangerous, keep them out of harm’s way of a curious pup.

Tip #4

if you have any hazardous chemicals or gardening tools that could be dangerous to puppies now is a good time to secure them in a locked cabinet or store tools away safely. Also, make sure any little screws or nails that could be laying around are cleaned away.

Tip #5

This is the single most important tip when welcoming your new puppy home!

Enjoy every cheeky, cute and snuggly moment with your new fur baby as they will bring so much love and joy to your family!
